Don Burt “Three Suncatchers”

This piece is 6.5” in diameter. It is three disks of clear antique glass tack-fused together and painted with enamels and glass-stainer’s paint. The self-portrait is the lower of the two yellow-skinned figures, probably.

So far, Don, I've told three different stories about how that lizard got up there and for some reason I keep thinking of Dr. Seuss. I love the use of circles and ovals to concentrate the viewer's focus.

I enjoy your work Don. The detail is unbelievable. And it gave me a smile.

I like this very much, reminds me of drawings repeating themselves in a mirror.

This is a very clever, fun piece. At first I imagined it to be around 20" so am impressed with the amount of detail and info you packed into a 6.5" disc.

DB,
I would like to see the world through through your eyes for one day. Great handling of the materials, as always. I want to reach in and turn the pieces to see more.

Don, you look a bit like a mad scientist, or maybe that's the Grinch I'm seeing??!! It was fun to magnify the piece. I tried to figure out what was in the third suncatcher. It was like opening a set of Russian dolls.

Don,

What's not to like about this piece!?
Delightful and interesting.

p.s. As I am prone to do, I immediately begin abstracting and look at the division of space in a composition and the textural quality of each space. Those elements of your piece "in the abstract" are also very nice.

The composition, colors and inherent humor are compelling! I also appreciate the photography, which in a virtual gallery becomes an essential part of the work.

Don, your attention to detail has always amazed me. I keep following the red trail between your eyes & the frogacuda's eyes (it is a frogacuda, isn't it?), then find myself lost in the trees outside your window.

It's great to see Frogacuda's return.

I like the sun catcher within a sun catcher within a sun catcher.

I like how the background of the large disk is repeated in the real window.

The change from circular to oval adds a nice design element to this piece.
